10/03/2017 – Day 3 – A Norway Saga
Friday 10th March saw us leave Oslo by train heading North. We took the 0802 service to Trondheim which was formed of this modern NSB 5-car electric multiple unit.

Once away from the Oslo area the scenery changes to one of snow covered fields, forests and frozen lakes as demonstrated by the following images

After a four hiur journey it was time to change trains leaving the Trondheim train at Dombas for a 2-car diesel multiple unit for the journry down the branch line to Andalsnes .

The journey to Andalsnes was one that encounterrd further snowfall on top of the existing 2ft. The depth of the snow is shown in the photo the following photo taken at a station on the line. You can just see the rails being covered.

The following shows some other views seen on this leg if the journey

At Andalsnes we changed mode from train to coach for a two hour journey to our final destination of Alesund. For a drive around fjords and over mountains.

The final images show Alesund at sunset from the 418 step climb to the view point and a harbour shot of the last bit of daylight

Beautiful (especially the trains … They look like something from a disney movie. Did they talk?)
